FICO® Score Open Access for Credit and Financial Counseling is a valuable program that enables credit and financial counseling providers in the US to share FICO® Scores already purchased — for example, for initial customer contact or for financial management plan review — with their customers with no additional score fees or program fees. The sharing of FICO® Scores with counseling customers is otherwise not permitted by the credit bureaus or by FICO and this program was created in response to requests by counseling organizations to provide a means through which they can share FICO® Scores and related credit score education. Fast and easy to use, the program was designed specifically for credit and financial counselors to increase consumer understanding of FICO® Scores and their importance in everyday financial decisions.

Knowledge about FICO® Scores may support a customers’ progress and commitment to more responsible financial health management, and reinforce behavior changes that last long after counseling sessions end. Additionally, making FICO® Scores available to your customers as part of the program may help with customer retention by encouraging customers to stay on their financial management plans.

Created in 1981 by the Fair Isaac Corporation (FICO), the FICO® Score has become a standard in consumer credit risk scoring and is used by 90% of top lenders in the United States to manage their customer credit portfolios. It is also used by a vast majority of smaller lenders and other organizations for their risk management decisions. So the importance of counseling customers understanding FICO® Scores and how it affects their lives is greater than ever.
