Q. How do I disable the "Java Applet Window" banner that appears underneath a drop-down menu in an RMA?

A:You can disable the banner by editing the java.policy file that is used by the RMA.

To disable the banner:

  1. Locate the java.policy file used to support the RMA. For example, if you are using a Sun JDK, it is probably located under C:\Program Files\Java\jre<VersionNumber>\lib\security.
  2. Open the java.policy file in a text editor and add this line to the bottom of the
    file:
    permission,java.awt.AWTPermission "showWindowWithoutWarningBanner";
  3. Save the change and close the file.
  4. Stop the RMA and restart it.
